November 11 is the designated day to celebrate and honor our brave and worthy Veterans! In the U.S., it’s Veteran’s Day and, in Canada, it’s Remembrance Day to honor military heroes and Veterans, acknowledging the unpayable debt to all who serve in the Armed Forces, past and present.
The day is filled with activities designed to honor our military, including speeches, parades, balloons and firework displays on the national and local community levels, bringing people together in celebration. Barbeques and picnics abound as families gather to enjoy the freedoms we share. Military personnel take center stage as individuals and businesses make this the day to say a special “thank you for your service.”
- Many restaurants give free meals to service members
- Other patrons pick up the tab for dining Veterans
- At the family table, they get the biggest piece of pie
- Free or reduced entrance to museums, aquariums, zoos and amusement parks
- Federal park entrance fees are waived
- Free car washes
- Free haircuts
Make every day Remembrance Day and Veteran’s Day
The attitude of gratitude to our military should go beyond this “official” day to every day. It doesn’t take a parade a day to honor and support our military, there are many ways to offer support through Veteran’s organizations, neighborhood initiatives, national fund raising activities and personal donations to a charity of your choice.
Budget Blinds®, parent company Home Franchise Concepts (HFC), and sister brands Tailored Living® and Concrete Craft®, take seriously the privilege of honoring Veterans through various avenues of service and giving back. “HFC has a strong commitment to supporting Veterans who have served our countries. Many of our franchisees are Veterans themselves or have personal connections to the Armed Forces, so we feel extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to give back to these true heroes when and where we can.” — Shirin Behzadi, CEO of Budget Blinds and Home Franchise Concepts
There’s No Place Like Home – Veteran Partnership and Giveaway
For 2017, as part of the 25th Anniversary celebration for Budget Blinds and HFC, an exciting new veteran initiative will award a franchise territory to a qualified Veteran candidate in the U.S. or Canada in just a few days, on November 11! One Veteran will be honored with the gift of an independently owned franchise business in the brand of his or her choice: Budget Blinds®, Tailored Living® or Concrete Craft®.
Additionally, through GoFundMe, consumers and soon-to-be fellow franchise owners can make contributions for first-year business expenses for the winning Veteran. HFC will match, dollar-for-dollar, all contributions up to $50,000, making a possibility of $100,000 start-up capital for the new business.
This special event is over and above the ongoing Veteran support of giving substantial discounts to qualified Veterans wishing to become franchise business owners with any of the HFC brands. For many years, Budget Blinds has been assisting Veterans with becoming independent franchise business owners, helping to pave the way to financial independence and career satisfaction.
Giving back to Veterans through ministry partnerships
Giving back to Veterans is part of the Budget Blind’s legacy and independent franchise owners throughout the network contribute their time and expertise to participate in programs that help Veterans and their families. Manufacturing partners like Springs Window Fashions donate custom window coverings that turn houses into comfortable, stylish homes, meeting needs like light and privacy control, child-safe cordless window treatments, improved energy efficiency and Smart Home automation for blinds and shades.
The partnership with Wounded Warriors Canada (WWC) focuses on supporting Canada’s ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members through funding programs and services that physically and emotionally assist veterans who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other casualties of war. The programs address a wide range of needs, from service dogs to career mentoring and financial assistance. Budget Blinds, in partnership with Springs Window Fashions, has made three annual $15,000 donations to WWC and Canadian franchise owners raise awareness of the ministry with consumers through participating in local events and during in-home sales consultations.
Budget Blinds, in partnership with Springs Window Fashions, is the official window coverings supplier for Homes for Our Troops (HFOT), a nonprofit organization that builds specially adapted, mortgage-free homes for severely injured post-9/11 U.S. Veterans to assist with recovery and rebuilding their lives. Since 2014, Budget Blinds has installed faux wood blinds in over 75 homes across the country, as well as making three annual donations of $50,000.
In 2013, Budget Blinds and sister brand, Tailored Living, first joined with NBC’s hit series, George to the Rescue, to rescue struggling families in dire need of home improvements. Since then we have helped multiple families over the years, including installing custom window coverings and custom storage solutions for two retired military Veterans, Staff Sergeant Sandra Lee and Marine Corporal Sherman Watson.
Budget Blinds partnered with Designing Spaces’ Military Makeover airing on Lifetime® Television, to provide our private label, Enlightened Style®, custom window coverings for four families of deserving veterans.
